Hacienda is a family-owned restaurant that originated on Woodson Road in 1968.  Then, it was a small place with only 12 tables.  In four short years business was thriving and we relocated across the street on Woodson Road in Overland.

In 1977, Hacienda on Manchester was born.  Even though we retain the same name, the two restaurants have operated independent of each other since 1983.

Since we opened, Hacienda on Manchester has continued to grow and so has our menu.  We are pleased to still have an exciting business, offering you the same great quality food and friendly service.  We are proud to have been voted your favorite Mexican Cuisine, Margarita, Outdoor Dining and Happy Hour by the Riverfront Times.

HISTORY OF THE BUILDING

Dating back to 1861, the building that houses Hacienda on Manchester is one of the oldest buildings in St. Louis County.

Originally a residence, it was owned by two steamboat skippers.  The first was Captain Mills T. Redmond, then Thomas Oliver, whose son was the first mayor of our Rock Hill community.

In 1951, it became the first restaurant, "Chalet de Normandie," followed by "Parente's Italian Village," then "Oliver’s."  Each establishment expanded from the original structure adding various rooms, such as the circular turret-shaped dining room and the main dining area with the booths.

In 1977, we opened this Hacienda on Manchester to accommodate our growing clientele's desire for quality Mexican food.  Our building expansions include our newly remodeled “La Fiesta” Room, the enlargement of the bar area and “La Tortilleria” – the on-site chip factory.  Spring of 2003 brought us new frontage with “La Veranda,” an all-weather dining and bar area with the coziness of a fireplace and the fresh air enjoyment.

Since 1993, "La Terraza" - the outdoor terrace and Cabaña bar, has been one of the largest outdoor facilities in St. Louis County.  We recently expanded our outdoor facility and added the “Pergola” - the overhead trellis to provide a bit of shade and added comfort for our outdoor dining enthusiasts.  In 2004, we completed our beautiful outdoor fountain to add the cooling sound of splashing water to our hot, midwestern summer evenings.

We constantly strive to improve our establishment and enhance your dining enjoyment.
